If you've got a moment

If you’ve got a moment I’d like to suspend you in time and space

If you’ve got a moment I’d like you to take a trip down memory’s lane

If you have a second to spare you may find a foreshadowing of emotions

If only you took a breath to realize there are universes perishing within a blink

If only you’d stop mixing up ‘holding still’ with ‘stepping back'

If only you’d let the colours absorb rather than brush them over in a haze

If only you’d let the words and sounds penetrate through clearly

If only we’d hear ourselves more than the clicks and beeps

If only we’d sense the joy in every resounding beat

If only I could find myself a moment I’d like to suspend myself in time and space.

Deceptive Paradise

Sometimes you put out the fire you nurtured with your own hands,
Pluck out the petals from the grasps of the harsh sand

Turn away from your own deceptive paradise,
Solemnly bury the reveries, they suffered a sad demise

Stranded and lost your utopia diminished,
Phrases unsaid desires unfinished

Once again you try and take solace in the mundane,
One step closer and the hypocrites call you insane

Shun reality to pursue the make believe,
Plenty to rejoice. aplenty to grieve

Lovingly build sand castles in the air,
Waiting till the next time life decides to be unfair.

A Butterfly of Memory

A raging storm
A stifled scream
A peace within chaos
A flowing soul's stream

A depraved mind
A pristine heart
An abrupt middle
Another start

A jocular madness
A sensitive blow
A butterfly of memory
A jagged flow

A love that's ruthless
Glittering diamonds that pierce
A semblance of sanity
A rawness that's fierce

A road less travelled
An imprint too deep
Sight at the peak
A hill too steep

Silence

Forever takes an instant to end
And cacophony turns to silence in a snap.
Silence.
What am I to do with all this silence?
The memories hover
but the thoughts are silent.
The mouth speaks
but the tongue is silent.
Aggression boils
but anger is silent.
The clock ticks
but the time is silent.
The eyes see
but the vision is silent.
The images reflect
but the insight is silent.
The light resonates
but the sunshine is silent
The dreams ache
but the want  is silent.
My affection writhes in agony
but mockingly Love is  silent.
The waves crash
but the winds are silent.
The smiles are aplenty
but heartfelt laughter is silent
The night is a blitzkrieg
but the stars are silent
The companionship is merry
but trust is silent.
The heart's taking a victory leap
but the soul though, is tragically silent.
Silence.
What am I to do with all this silence?

They

They said they would melt the winds,
They said they would boil the skies,
They said they would snatch it back,
And give to me all that was mine.

They told me impatience was good,
They taught me vengeance was fuel,
They insisted I trample on others' smiles,
Because others' lives are meant to be ruled.

They tempted me to cross the line,
To lose any semblance of mind,
They promised an askew justice,
One neither sober nor kind.

The sun started to fade away,
Even he had decided to part ways,
If only I could've grasped some fortitude,
In those quick disappearing rays.

The one dressed in black blew his breath on a harmonica,
He did it for a hearty reason.
They tried to pull me away from him,
Because he often warned me of their treason.

They own a force that's brute & raw,
Their illusion of comfort leads to the throes of insanity
They push & pull with wholesome vigor,
Till you're only left with the memories of morality.

As I stand perched on the edge,
The faint music with it's humble message flies,
I shall miss the blowing wind,
I shall miss the blue skies.

Dear death

Dear death,

You’re the root cause of all our fears,

The thing we associate the most with tears.

Dear death,

Are you the good night’s sleep after this painfully long day called life?

Or will you ready us once again for some gruesome other worldly strife?

Dear death,

Will you gently unburden our stressed shoulders and put us to much desired rest?

Or will you subjugate us to another long winding, sinister, and treacherous test?

Dear death,

When you mark an absolute end of our struggles, then shouldn’t you be a sign of gladness?

Why then dear death, should you be filled up to the brim with sadness?

Dear death,

We swear by you to prove our undying love, a love we nurture, growing stronger day by day.

Why then should you with such cruelty and disregard, snatch our loved ones away?

Dear death,

You rarely grant us a glimpse behind your dark, ominous veil,

Despite your scathing lessons, we still retrace the steps on your trail.

Dear death,

For some you are a lengthy, laborious process. For others you strike with surprising agility,

You love to show your might don’t you? Time and again reminding us of your ability.

Dear death,

I guess one just has to embrace you, like it or not one day we‘ll all run out of breath,

Why are we scared of you then, when the only certain thing about life…is death?

Will you be friends with me?

I was taking a stroll in my wintry, frozen, uninteresting life,
When she popped up like a ray of sunshine without much strife.

With a warm smile on her lips,
She stuck out a hand and quipped,

"Will you be friends with me?"

She had eluded me for so long,
How could this possibly be?

I was apprehensive,
What exactly was her incentive?

But as the conversations unfolded,
I realized I could shake her trusting hand and hold it.

Of course we fought.

And when she would irritatingly say "grow up",
For a brief while I thought maybe I should.

On the other hand when she'd say "you can do it",
I found strength for amazing things I could.

There were dark times too.

When broken hearts we had to nurse,
Realizing what seemed like a blessing was now worse than a curse.

But we pulled through thanks to the laughs,
It's always fun to poke fun at ex-better halves.

There were idyllic dreams to share.

A longing to break free from our caged existence,
Making a thousand false promises to practice resistance.

Very often in life people come and play their part,
And before you know it, it's time to grow apart.

I'm not very fond of the future, that subject isn't my favourite,
For now lets treasure the camaraderie, celebrate and savour it.

No matter what lies ahead,
How cruel life turns out to be,
At least I have that moment to relive,
When she stuck out her hand and quipped,

"Will you be friends with me?"

The song

It hypnotizes me,
that song from afar,
Its sweetness insults my loneliness.
Intensely torn is my heart,
am I being pulled in another bout of helplessness?

The sands of the desert it seems,
are wondering which path will I choose,
will I stay put with the dreary and familiar,
or will I again in hope of freedom cut loose?

The large setting sun drowns itself away.
Is it trying to give me a warning?
Could the owner of this beautiful voice
be as selfish as the song is charming?

The soft wind whirls around my face,
advising me to not be so cynical.
The musical sensuality has blended within,
once again forcing me to act whimsical.

My mind wavers again.
Should i crawl in pain to quench my thirst?
"NO",wrestles my conscience,
those seductive tones might well be cursed.

And though I know not,
where these sonorous layers will lead me eventually,
A faint idea comes flowing by,
I choose to inch towards deep dark melancholy

Hum of nature

I tried to look my best that day
but it was all to fall apart.
Maybe another time,another place
Maybe a brand new start.
The mind tried to cajole me
But the psyche begged to differ
Surprisingly surprised me
it was still willing to suffer.
The broken fragments of memories rush through in a haze
how could i?
I'd promised myself to not be lost in the maze.
Now every morning i wake up,& it's these memories that lay beside me
try and search for hope in the sun rays
because the evening often derides me.
And then the odd hum of nature penetrates through the eardrums
its rich melody determined to inspire
begging me to realize there's much more to desire.
roads,dreams,tears,smiles,gladness,peace
it persuades me that time heals, and though much of the heart's made of glass,
like everything else, this too shall pass.

Sweet summer morning

She's like a sweet summer morning,
I love to feel it's breeze,
Reminiscent of how she wins you over with ease
The sunshine reminds me of that radiant smile,
And the early hour reminded me of that innocence of a child

I'm certain that the fresh grass borrowed the sweet smell from her hair,
And the chirping birds and the blooming flowers reassure me of that same care,
And then comes the fun, frolic, and mischief of the little ones,
Their collective joyous sounds echo her laughter,
Giving me hope for this world and the hereafter.

Daylight

When the daylight arrives, maybe i'll see clearly,
at times,life seems really dreary,
If everything happens for a reason, what shall the reason be?
Always confused, dazed and searching for answers,
that's gotta be me!

I see the birds flying in the sky,
and i wanna be with them.

And i will,
if i have the will,
then i'll fly high above the skies,
if really hard i try.

But then again,
can someone explain,
When one laughs,
why does the other have to cry?
