If you've got a moment

If you’ve got a moment I’d like to suspend you in time and space

If you’ve got a moment I’d like you to take a trip down memory’s lane

If you have a second to spare you may find a foreshadowing of emotions

If only you took a breath to realize there are universes perishing within a blink

If only you’d stop mixing up ‘holding still’ with ‘stepping back'

If only you’d let the colours absorb rather than brush them over in a haze

If only you’d let the words and sounds penetrate through clearly

If only we’d hear ourselves more than the clicks and beeps

If only we’d sense the joy in every resounding beat

If only I could find myself a moment I’d like to suspend myself in time and space.

Dear death

Dear death,

You’re the root cause of all our fears,

The thing we associate the most with tears.

Dear death,

Are you the good night’s sleep after this painfully long day called life?

Or will you ready us once again for some gruesome other worldly strife?

Dear death,

Will you gently unburden our stressed shoulders and put us to much desired rest?

Or will you subjugate us to another long winding, sinister, and treacherous test?

Dear death,

When you mark an absolute end of our struggles, then shouldn’t you be a sign of gladness?

Why then dear death, should you be filled up to the brim with sadness?

Dear death,

We swear by you to prove our undying love, a love we nurture, growing stronger day by day.

Why then should you with such cruelty and disregard, snatch our loved ones away?

Dear death,

You rarely grant us a glimpse behind your dark, ominous veil,

Despite your scathing lessons, we still retrace the steps on your trail.

Dear death,

For some you are a lengthy, laborious process. For others you strike with surprising agility,

You love to show your might don’t you? Time and again reminding us of your ability.

Dear death,

I guess one just has to embrace you, like it or not one day we‘ll all run out of breath,

Why are we scared of you then, when the only certain thing about life…is death?
